Opinion
Sometimes, I write reviews of products I bought from Amazon for Amazon. All the ones I've written have been accepted, until last week. I had written a review of the new MP3 player I had bought with my usual forthrightness: here's what I liked, here's what didn't work for me.
But then Amazon rejected the review but could not say why:
We couldn't post your review because it doesn't meet our guidelines for one or more of these reasons:
- Spam
- Promotions
- Reviews given in exchange for cash, discounts
- Links to other sites
- Attempts to manipulate helpful votes
- Plagiarism
- Infringement
- Impersonation
None of these apply, except for me including a link to Hidizs' hidden support site, which I thought would be helpful to purchasers. Amazon erased the review, so I cannot reproduce it here for you to review. (Its link, Edit Review, leads to a blank page.) There is no appeal process.
I did muse that this is what it will be like in a world ruled by AI: it can't pinpoint the problem, and there is no appeal process.
