Q: I am being taught AutoCAD 2009 here in Federal Prison. I bought one of your books, Using AutoCAD 2009, and I saw an address to write with questions. Is there a way in AutoCAD to create text that will run along an arc? If so, what command do I enter.
My teachers don't think there is a possible way to do this, so I thought I would turn to the experts! Please see the example below.

A: It is possible to place text along an arc in AutoCAD and workalikes. The command you are looking for is called ARCTEXT.
In AutoCAD, the command is an "Express Tool," which is Autodesk's name for a bonus set of commands that are included with AutoCAD but not supported by Autodesk. Usually, these commands are not installed by default, which is perhaps why your instructors did not know about them. If the ARCTEXT command does not work, then the set of Express Tools need to be installed on the computer.
