Ten years of passion
Over at the CAD Panacea blog, R K McSwain today celebrates his 10th anniversary blogging. In his posting, he lists the other bloggers who have been around at least as long. See http://cadpanacea.com/wp/?p=798.
From his list, it appears that this WorldCAD Access blog is the oldest, continuously-running, independent blog in the industry. I started on December 31, 2003, since then posting 4,678 articles -- an average of 1.14 articles per day. The oldest one of all is an Autodesk corporate blog penned by Shaan Hurley.
The other ones on Mr McSwain's list are the following names, along with a link to their first blog entry:
Lee Ambrosius -- March 2004
Lynn Allen -- November 2004
Jimmy Berkmark -- November 2004
Melanie Perry -- April 2005
My first blog entry explained the origin of the name:
"WorldCAD Access" was the name of my first Web site, which I created back in 1995. It was hosted on a Web site that I had a hard time accessing [and so] I've resurrected the name for this Web log.
Blogging becomes a self-consuming hobby, where the blog demands that you write; otherwise the blog withers. Lots of people started blogs, and many of them died out. Congrats to all the independent bloggers who maintain their passion.
Ralph, I only did a moderate amount of research, and only on a subset of blogs about when I a was already aware. I'd love to make some updates to my list if others are brought to my attention.
Thanks for the mention.
