When will GE buy PTC?

Dennis Nagy, head of BeyondCAE and an industry veteran, predicted to those of us assembled for the joint CIC2104/NAFEMS 2014 show that GE will acquire PTC.

Dennis later admited he had no real insider knowledge of this acquisition. However, what might otherwise be considered pure conjecture is worthy of consideration for these reaons:

• Siemens (likened to the GE of Europe) acquired a major CAD company with UGS in 2007
• PTC has been seen as an acquisition target as early as 2009; see this DATAMONITOR report from 2009

If PTC Creo 3.0 isn't a huge step forward I think PTC does need to be acquired.

I don't like to bet against Mike Payne who more often than not is usually right:
