Our kids are back to school, and our CAD vendor's marketing departments are back to issuing press releases. After a quiet August, it's nice to see the industry gearing up and shouting about new stuff.
Autodesk, for one, has dropped the price of its Revit software to $1200 by issuing an LT version. Pay another $300 and you get AutoCAD LT thrown in.
The LT version is meant for single users, and lacks these functions found in full-price Revit:
- Worksharing
- Energy analysis
- Photorealistic rendering (you can go online to render)
- Conceptual massing
- Adaptive components
- Export in gbXML and IFC formats
- Interference Checking
- Copy and monitor
- Construction modeling with parts and assemblies
The 30-day demo won't be available for another two weeks, so wait until 18 Sept to go to www.autodesk.com/revitlt.
