MacWorld is reporting that the retina-compatible version of AutoCAD for Mac won't be available until later this year.
[AutoCAD product manager Rob] Maguire said his company needed to test the updated app on the new MacBook Pro, which it had only limited access to until recently.
One particular concern for Autodesk is making sure that users with multi-monitor setups can drag an AutoCAD window from a Retina display to a standard-definition display and back again, without bugs cropping up.
My guess is that AutoCAD needs to switch display modes as users drag it between the higher and lower-resolution screens.
The magazine warned potential buyers of the ultra-high-resolution MacBook Pro that non-retina apps will look "pixelated and blurry." The problem is unique to Apple operating systems, as software running Android, Linux, and Windows is resolution-independent.
