Sense this: Geomagic dives into hardware

Geomagic this morning is telling the world they've acquired from Sensable Technologies the Phantom brand of force-feedback haptic devices, software, and more. The reason? Nothing less than the betterment of man:

This acquisition expands Geomagic's vision to advance and apply 3D technology for the benefit of humanity.

Items from the FAQ:

Senable hardware does not work with Geomagic software officially. "Over time, we believe we can more tightly integrate the products for more streamlined workflows, and offer new solutions."
Geomagic acquired the 3D modeling software, haptics hardware, related patents, and employees from Sensable Technologies, but not the company itself and some some other parts.
All Senable staff become Geomagic employees, but get to stay in their home town. Ceo Marcus Lovell Smith stays with Sensable Technologies.
