When executives grant interviews and then sidestep questions

If you can't comment, then why grant an interview?

Engadget: Your new CEO, Leo Apotheker, said recently in an interview with the BBC that the devices announced at this event would ship "within weeks" -- that clearly isn't the case. Can you explain?

Steven McArthur, vp of applications and services, HP: I can't comment on that. I don't know the context. We're going to work on getting these products out as fast as we can.

Engadget: Okay, but you said summer. Early summer, late summer?

Steven: We are anxious to get a fantastic product into folks' hands as fast as possible.

Considering where HP is in terms of quality and customer service, It's my belief that these products won't be available until this time next year.

In typical fashion, quality issues with hardware and software will turn these new devices into the also- rans that cam from Palm's rotting corpse.
