It appears that the benefits to Enovia is that it can handle multiple IT [information technology] systems, seamless upgrades, and large amounts of data. echoBase plans to eventually ship its software adapted to the iPad, as mocked-up below.
My previous doctor wrote on paper, which he glanced over during my visits. He retired (unfortunately!) and my current doctor sits in front of a computer screen. Maybe it's the doctor, but I find the current one fairly clueless about my past conditions.
This is because the computer screen presents patient data in a fixed format, predefined to be generic to all patients, on a screen that presents limited amounts of data at a time -- rather than in a freeform format created by the doctor that presents large amounts of data at a glance.
I would imagine that the iPhone's tiny screen size (multiplied by finger-size interface elements) magnifies the problem.
