The standard is to compare financial results with the year earlier, because that evens out seasonality -- the fact that products sell more strongly in some parts of the year, more weakly in other parts.
Sure enough: in today's press release, Autodesk announces, "[Q1] Revenue Grows 11 Percent to $475 Million" -- as compared with Q1 a year ago.
But not everywhere. Revenues in the Americas fell 4%, leaving it to Asia Pacific to pick up the slack with its 14% growth. The falling Euro is having it predicted effect, with Europe increasing just 6% -- but would have gone up 9% had the Euro not weakened due to the problem of PIIGS.
