PTC is making much of its plan to increase its EPS (earnings per share) by 20% a year for five years. (I wonder what happens after the Five-Year Plan ends?) A company gets more earnings by increasing revenues and cutting costs. Considering that PTC's revenues might only increase by 7% this year, that's a whole lot of cost cutting that's gotta happen.
In today's conference call, Dassault Systems shot back: "We are increasing our non-IFRS EPS growth target to about 18 to 23 percent growth," says cfo Thibault de Tersant. Well, Q1 was "just" 16%, so DS also has some catching up to do -- with itself.
Also extracted from DS is the number of seats of SolidWorks sold:
1Q09 = 9,070 @ $5,372 per seat
1Q10 = 9,843 (up 8%) @ $5,264 per seat (down 2%)
Between March 2009 and 2010, Dassault shed 214 jobs.
