HP flew in some members of the CAD media -- including the coy Randall Newton -- to take a look at their Spring line of computers. With CPU speeds stalled, I'm not really sure what there is to get excited about, but here is what HP marketing is pumped up over -- and what Randall hinted at on Facebook:
* HP's first small form factor workstation "to be available in every region of the world" ($740 and up). This one is like their current Slimline series.
* A 6-core version of its Z-series workstations ($930 and up). Six cores and no mainstream software to run on it.
* The HP EliteBook 8740w mobile workstation outfitted with a DreamColor display ($2,000). Since the 12-bit DreamColor monitor alone is $2,000, you are getting the notebook computer for free.
