Rajen Sheth describes on Google's Official Google Enterprise Blog the steps his company is taking to minimize data loss for Google Docs. When it comes to two ways to measure backup efficiency:
- RPO -- Recovery Point Objective is amount of data lost should a crash occur between back ups.
- RTO -- Recovery Time Objective is the length of time it takes to recover data following the crash.
Google's objective is zero and zero. Will corporations like Dassault Systemes offer a similar level of service?
Mr Sheth describes how Google is accomplishing their zero-data-loss, zero-downtime objective. (In addition, Google is ensuring that they lock up no data belonging to customers.)

What a shame, then, that Google's privacy reputation lies in tatters.
