WorldCAD Access: Why are initial sales in parts of Europe?
Stratasys: HP's Graphics Solutions Business, which is behind this agreement, is based in Barcelona. While we don't have insight as to why HP picked the 5 initial countries (Spain, France, UK Germany, and Italy), it makes sense HP would chose an area near home to launch a new product.
WorldCAD Access: Will HP be doing any manufacturing of the 3D printers (since one slide shows your max capacity of 5,000 units a year).
Stratasys: There are no plans for HP to manufacture the 3D printers. Stratasys foresees being able to handle the near-term manufacturing needs at its current Eden Prairie plant. We have the capacity to expand to about 6,000 units per year at this facility. Beyond that point, we will have to evaluate our alternatives to expand.
WorldCAD Access: What will the pricing be? I assume HP will sell them for much cheaper than your dealer channel does at present?
Stratasys: HP isn't ready to announce details of the product or pricing yet. They will announce this sometime in the first half of this year.
WorldCAD Access: How will this deal affect your dealer channel?
Stratasys: Our resellers will continue to sell lines of Stratasys 3D Printers and 3D Production systems. These resellers will have the opportunity to be selected as HP dealers. For the countries HP enters, Stratasys will continue to sell all its products except those sold under the HP brand.
