Correction: Autodesk yesterday launched its appeal of the earlier court case, in which Tim Vernor partially won against Autodesk. Recall that Autodesk had got eBay to prevent him from selling boxes of AutoCAD obtained from garage sales. A judge found that Mr Vernor could sell the software, since he had never agreed to it license terms -- which occurs only when you begin to install the software.
In short, don't install the software and you can resell it. Autodesk is now appealing this ruling using the same lawyers who came to the last-minute agreement with SolidWorks.
