A year ago, however, FeedBurner's graph showing the number of RSS subscribers changed its shape from flat to inclined. For a reason that I don't know, the number subscribers began to increase steadily. By last week, the number had quadrupled to 2,840 weekday subscribers. (You can see the number, delayed by a day, near the bottom of the blog, on the right hand side.)
Last week, another 1,630 read the blog directly in one day. I appreciate the 4,500 subscribers+readers who find this blog interesting enough to stop by each day. Thank you!
That's the nice thing about a blog: you don't have to "stop by" each day, new content just shows up (in Outlook, for me).

Congrats on the subscriptions. That is big time growth. Goes to show you are providing a good service here.

Hi Ralph, there was a bump back in 06/07 when TypePad turned on redirection of "direct" subscriptions to FeedBurners stats, even if not the FeedBurner URL.
I've also noticed a similar increase, wondered if it's because, even if the use is not aware of it, RSS adoption is increasing. Interesting that email subscription to my blog is a fraction of the RSS, and seems to be churning at a pretty static rate with drop-off matching new.
With applications like Outlook, Browsers even AutoCAD allowing subscription suspect there has been some natural growth. That may explain the subscriber growth but it's your good content that makes them read.
