I think it's a pretty good guess that Autodesk University Virtual this year is a testing-the-waters exercise at seeing what the reaction would be to eliminating the face-to-face conference. I could be for it, if they can figure a way of getting the free drinks to me at the evening party...

yet their products seem to be wholly _un-green_, requiring higher power, newer hardware, more memory, faster drives, and more expensive video each time around. That carbon impact is being ignored and externalized, when it rightly should be counted.

If Autodesk truly wanted to make a green impact, they could prioritize getting C3D and ACA/MEP to run effectively on VIA c7 based PCs, and start dumping bling and eyecandy for bang for the buck.
