Bricsys is boasting that the EZ-Plant landscape planning software ($295) running on Bricscad V9 software is much cheaper than when it runs on AutoCAD:
- EZ-Plant on AutoCAD = "over $4000" [$4,295, actually]
- EZ-Plant on Bricscad = "under $700" [$660, actually]
Dave Petrosky of EZ-Plant says:
The value of the new, combined solution is tremendous -- it offers 100% of our functionality at 20% [15%, actually] of the cost... the redefined price point has redefined the size of our market...
This "100% of functionality" is a switch from AutoCAD's old marketing phrase from the 1980s, "80% of the functions for 20% of the cost."
Still, for low-cost add-ons, switching to a low-cost, mostly-AutoCAD-compatible CAD package makes financial sense.
