I don't think they are the first on the block, but a press release from Hard Dollar boasts about five-dimensional building information modeling:
- 3D BIM -- Integration from the 3D CAD model to visualize potential clashes.
- 4D BIM -- 3D model plus time (scheduling) as the 4th dimension.
- 5D BIM -- 3D model plus costing over time.
What will be the sixth dimension?
Until then, there is the wording of the press release's heading to savor: Hard Dollar Industry Thought Leader Addresses 5D-BIM Advantages at Microsoft Project Conference 2009.
Gary Collins used to have a TV show called the Sixth Sense. You should call him and ask him. :-)
