For all the horror stories of Google acquiring software, and then ignoring it, SketchUp does not suffer from that.
Just in time to head off the new 3D and parametrics expected in next March in AutoCAD 2010, version 7 of SketchUp (probably now the world's most popular CAD software) features:
- Dynamic Components behave like real-world objects; scale without stretching.
- Pro version lets you create dynamic components.
- Google 3D Warehouse can be searched from within SketchUp; credits can now be attached to models.
- In Pro, LayOut2 is a separate program for producing paper prints of 3D models, as well as doing 2D sketching.
Download the free version of SketchUp from sketchup.google.com or pay $495 for the Pro version.
