ODA president Mr Van Der Weide is continuing his keynote, with these announcements:
Legacy Application Recovery
The ODA is now supporting apps that Autodesk no longer supports. The new service provides DRX support for legacy ARX custom object applications. You can now view and use legacy drawings. The ODA already does this for ArchT (architectural add-on for IntelliCAD) and Civil 3D. This could be a pretty big deal.
It will be interesting to see if competitors appear, one or more others who provide legacy services for software and add-ons abandoned by CAD vendors. From requests I get from users, a big one would be the ability to view and translate Actrix Technical files.
HOOPS
In cooperation with Tech Soft 3D, the ODA now offers HOOPS support. This was announced a year ago, and the interface to DGNdirect is already done. Next up: interface to DWGdirect, and then further cooperation between the two. As well, ITC members will be able to get access to HOOPS in the near future from Tech Soft 3D; the ODA will provide the interface only.
We are supposed to get a demo later today. There are similar interfaces to ACIS and ParaSolid.
