Ivy Lessner reports in The Street.Com on speculation that Cadence Design Systems might be bought out by a CAD vendor:

[Industry analyst Gary Smith] says that Cadence could itself become a takeover candidate -- not by a rival firm [Synopsys or Mentor Graphics] but by one from the allied mechanical design industry, dominated by Dassault Systemes and Parametric Technology.
