Fear of Upgrades

I’m no longer excited about new releases, in fact, I dread them.

Devon T. Sowell wrote those words over at the Matt Writes blog. So true. 

When software works, we don't want upgrades screwing up our livelihood though incompatibilities (think Vista) or new bugs. So, a lot of software I run in my business is pretty old -- and that just fine, because I get my work (technical writing) done.

And that's the fundamental flaw in SaaS [software as a service] and cloud computing, where software is updated for everyone automatically -- new bugs, included.
