ZWCAD Software celebrates its 10th anniversary next month. Based in Guangzhou, China, the company has 300 employees, 100,000 users in 65 countries, and derives 95% of its revenues from its IntelliCAD-based ZWCAD software.
We don't know what its revenues are, but they are sufficient to support 150 programmers in Guangzhou and Wuhan working on bug fixes and the API.
Their press release has some interesting statements:
As a result, the company achieved its thorough transformation from a CAD application developer to a CAD platform supplier.
This change sounds like they used to have their own CAD program until they switched to adapting IntelliCAD.
ZWSOFT purchased many advanced technologies and cooperated with many world-known enterprises such as Dassault, Microsoft, Spatial, Open Design Alliance and Intel.
This list may be a reference to add-ons: VBA from MicroSoft, ACIS from Spatial, OpenDWG from ODA, and perhaps U3D from Intel. Not sure what they might have licensed from Dassault, 3DXML? (Cadopia provides the IntelliCAD-based DWGeditor to DS SolidWorks.)
ZWCAD's strong R&D direction makes the company a pioneer in China in many key technologies such as batch plot, polar tracking, true color support and arc-aligned text.
I'm not sure what to make of this claim, all of which existed in AutoCAD years before being added to IntelliCAD.
