Franco Folini did the grunt work of researching anonymous edits of Wikipedia entries for CAD topics, and found competitors editing each other's entries. The changes are discrete put-downs, with Inventor needing to be "bundled with AutoCAD" (apparently edited by a SolidWorks' IP address) and SolidWorks said to have "begun to lose ground" (apparently edited by an Autodesk IP address).
I am sure the temptation was just too great for certain employees eager to edit the "real truth" about The Other Guy! But is it just as bad if the entries are edited to read like glossy marketing brochures -- all pluses, no pus?
Read Mr Folini's deails on CAD Companies Push the Marketing Frontier on Wikipedia, including the nasty name apparently an Adobe IP address gave the former ceo of HP.
