In addition to Flickr and Orkut, pirates are also using blog sites to flog illegal software sales. They use reasonable sounding names for their blogs, but fill them with nonsense text, intermingled with ads for too-cheap software.
One is hosted on Google's Blogger site and appears to be thanking those who helped with Katrina Relief Efforts. But it has "$129.95 AUTOCAD 2008" and "What is xGrowthâ¢:" entries. I've flagged this site as objectionable, but after three days Google has not reacted.
Another is hosted by Wordpress and is supposedly for paparazzi wannabes. Instead, it also offers "AutoCAD 2008 $129.95" -- using the same photo as at the Flickr site mentioned earlier -- as well as entries for "AUTOCAD 2008 READY TO DOWNLOAD" and "Separate yourself from other men."
I bought a copy of AutoCAD 2008 in Taicang, China last week for 8 yuan. This works out to about $1.18 and no, I did not slip a decimal or two.

Why Bill? For what reason? And what is an industry commentator going to do with pirate software?
