We're on our way today to Puerto Vallarta [web cam] for the Rhino press event put on by Robert McNeel & Assoc of Seattle. Tomorrow is a full day of activities for the press, where we get to updated on McNeel's plans for the future of Rhino, that little 3D Software Package That Could.
After that, there's two days of observing a conference bringing together 1000-2000 students of Mexico and --- something or other. It's not real clear to me what it's about, the conference details being in Spanish only -- which isn't one of my other languages.
Pre-trip Preps
Just before leaving, some of us editors attending the three-day event engaged in a bit of chitter-chatter:
Editor 1: You guys, I am so jealous! I hope you have fun. Please do.
Me: Don't forget to get your inoculation against Hep A. Taxi from airport to hotel is about US$16.
Editor 2: Typhoid is advisable too - it's on the increase. Hurts like a b***h -- I swear the doc used a rusty old drainpipe to put it into my arm two weeks ago.
Editor 3: Oh, great. We're leaving today and now I learn these things are advisable?
Me: Heh. I had my tetanus shot three years ago after breaking my leg. So that one was free (praise be the Canadian health system). But the Hep A is private, so cost me $60.
