Enid Burns of ClickZ News writes on "Marketers Increasingly Use Social Networking Sites." Last year, 38% of firms surveyed used social networking -- MySpace, YouTube, blogs -- for marketing purposes.
Among these are CAD vendors. SolidWorks marketing people have shown me the videos they've posed to YouTube or had friendly customers post. Autodesk marketing uses the blogsphere to promote AutoCAD 2008 -- so much so that Tenlinks.com had to create a separate section to cover the many daily AutoCAD 2008 blog items in its daily e-newsletter.
You might also look at www.cadjunky.com . CAD Junky is a "youtube" like site catering to the CAD community. The site was set up by SolidWorks but is there for all CAD cultures."
