Owen Wengerd reports that settlement talks are under way.
There were clues that this was going on:
- both sides requested a delay of further court hearings.
- Autodesk, the aggressor, gave a concession to the Open Design Alliance, the defendant (the rewording a contentious dialog box).
- and talks got underway starting 31 Jan, when both sides traveled to Portland -- neutral ground between Autodesk's California and the court room's Washington location.
Unfortunately, I couldn't report that, and Owen beat me by releasing the news last night! But that's as it should be, since he made the huge effort of making public all court documents at adskvoda.com. I trust he maintains this Web site, so that it remains available for historical research.
Thanks for the kind words, Ralph. The ADSK v ODA web site will stick around at least until the domain name expires in two years, and if there's no change in the prevailing winds I have a feeling it may stick around even longer -- perhaps even live another day.
