SolidWorks recently boasted that "...SolidWorks 2007 software is the first 3D CAD product available and certified by Microsoft Corp. for the new Windows Vista operating system..."
...which seemed to me to contradict the statement on their SolidWorks Vista Version page: "...SolidWorks Vista Version; available during the first quarter of 2007."
It is available now, or not? Yes.
The press release explains that it is available both now and not now: "An early version of SolidWorks 2007 on the Windows Vista Business Edition is available today by arrangement with SolidWorks. SolidWorks Edition for Windows Vista will be generally available to new and Subscription Service customers in the first quarter of 2007 by service pack download..."
Is "early version" a codephrase for "beta testing?" If so, is SolidWorks Vista actually available now?
Ralph,
SolidWorks was the first CAD product to receive the VISTA logo from Microsoft. As with every product we submitted the same version that is now in beta for logo testing. At the time of the press release we had received the logo certification and the product was available as a beta to our Subscription Service customers. We continue to get beta feedback from our customers and we plan to release the full version for general availability in early Q1.
If you would like a copy of SolidWorks for VISTA please let me know.
Happy Holidays.
