When you drag dwg files into Solidworks 2007, it gets inserted as a block....you also have the option to link the block back to the original dwg file. Any changes to the dwg file get updated in Solidworks when you rebuild.

This works whether you insert the block into a drawing, or a 3d model sketch.

Autodesk is saying "maybe/maybe not" because the Autodesk Legal Department insists that any discussion by Autodesk employees regarding features in future versions follow a rather strict formula. These rules can handcuff employees who are eager share about new stuff in the pipeline, especially in such a competitive environment as Inventor vs. SolidWorks.
