Children in my neighborhood taunted each other with
"Liar, liar
Pants on fire
Hanging from a telephone wire!"
Curiously, it wasn't the bit about the pants being on fire that filled me with dread as a youngster, but the image of pants potentially hanging from telephone wires should I have been caught lying. I'll leave that one for the therapists to sort out.
Roopinder Tara is back from vacation, and his CAD Insider blog describes the taunting going on between UGS and Dassault Systemes over the Boeing account -- perhaps the most prestigious CAD account in the world. We saw a similar skirmish of press releases between SolidWorks and Autodesk over the Leatherman account.
Both are cases of a PR [public relations] person making it sound as if one CAD company now has all the business, when in fact they are taking over just old designs, or maybe taking on just new designs, while the arch-competitor still has the bulk of the CAD business or maybe a sizeable chunk of it.
In any case, the competing CAD companies haven't learned to share, PR-wise.
