Frank Witsil of the Free Press reports on a (former?) UGS employee being sentenced today for killing a mother and her two sons last year while driving drunk at 70mph in the afternoon. Under a plea agreement, the driver will serve 19 to 30 years in prison.
John Clendening, a spokesman for the company Wellinger worked for, UGS Inc., based in Plano, Texas, declined to comment Tuesday on whether Wellinger's boss, Ed Arlin, said anything to him the day of the crash. Clendening also declined to discuss the company's policies regarding alcohol use.
If employees are suspected of alcoholism or drug abuse, they need to be confronted with this choice: attend a program, such as AA, or risk losing their job.
I don't understand why you think this is "news" related to the CAD market. Unless of course it just fits into your bashing of anything that isn't AutoCad...
Another transparent smear!

The traffic accident which wiped out half a family is truly a sad event, not related to UGS.
Are you saying that UGS caused a worker to drink, drive, kill a family?
Or, is this just filler.
Stick to CAD.

Wo! Struck a nerve there eh? I would like to step in on Ralph's defence. What makes his reporting so unique is that he adds a humane touch to things that affect the CAD community.
On a personal and professional level I have never witnessed Ralph crow over the misfortunes of others and I regard him as a very human person within a highly aggressive and often brutal market.
This story is a reminder to us all that none of us are immune to mistakes individuals make. My sympathies go to all the parties involved in this story and I pray that something like this never happens to me, or anyone I am connected to.
Keep up the good work, ralph.
