I've decided I don't like downloading music. I get all kinds of offers for free downloads, ranging from a single download free with the purchase of a box of granola bars, to an entire month of free downloads with the purchase of a Zen Micro MP3 player. In each case I have to provide credit card data, go through the time and sometimes confusing effort of entering registration data -- all for a single download? No thanks.
... especially for those wierdo sites where you don't get to keep the download. About as satisfying as eating a granola bar: what d'you got to show for it? Another hassle: lack of content. Download sites are starting to remind me of those Record of the Month Club, where either the CDs are too expensive or consist soley of greatest hits. Yuck!
Here's a deal: last week I found a Tom Petty CD at Wal-Mart. "Anthology: Through the Years" has 34 tracks, 2 CDs, and cost me just CDN$15. That works out to 44 cents a track. Try'n beat that, Steve Jobs!
