Over the last three months, shares of Dassault Systemes (CATIA, SolidWorks) have performed better than those of Autodesk (AutoCAD, Inventor). (Click the thumbnail image for the larger image.) Current standings are:
Share Price
ADSK = $40
DASTY = $60
Market Capitalization
ADSK = $9.2 billion
DASTY = $6.9 billion
Of the two, Autodesk is still the more valuable company, as measured by market capitalization (share price x number of shares), possibly because Autodesk is more diversified than Dassault Systemes.
Actually the two companies have very similar forward looking Price to Earnings ratio. The current PE ratios are also fairly close.
If you need a financial comparison I'd say a few pages of discussion would just begin to do the topic justice
