Bill has no interest in sharing glory with Nick on the $100 computer. He wants to hook up a tv and a keyboard to cell phones. See John Markoff's report reprinted at CNET.
I had predicted that the $100-computer for underdeveloped parts of the world would fail. I s'pose it's not surprising that Time coverboy Biil "all-computing-ought-to-belong-to-me" Gates would sink the project. Now people have to buy the cell phone, the keyboard, the tv, the cables, the power supplies, the pay-as-you-go cards. Sounds like one of Microsoft's "let's-make-it-as-complex-as-possible-so-that-everyone-has-to-rely-on-us" concepts.
May it fail like the TabletPC.
