Kevin G. Clark of Autodesk reminds me that the company has been shipping extensions for 3D studio all along. My apologies.
In trying to get customers to buy subscriptions, Autodesk used to promise 3-4 "extensions" every 3-4 months -- new features that would get rolled-up with the "big-R" release each year. Then Autodesk found that it could get subscription signups by offering nothing but the "big-R", plus a few Web-based training items.
So, out went the extensions (which I thought were a brilliant idea: get the subscribers to beta test new features for the upgraders [g]) for the CAD side, but they still ship on the movie side. Autodesk brings back extensions for 3ds Max 8.
The lastest one is Pro Booleans, which is based on Power Booleans that Autodesk licensed from a third-party developer, NPower Software.
3dsmax subscribers! Don't become hyperexcited just yet: you won't get the item for another few months.
