Nemetschek North America says its VectorWorks 12 CAD software will support Apple's Intel-based Macintosh computers at some point in the future. Upgrades (or should that be "crossgrades"?) will be free to current VectorWorks 12 users.
No other details are given, other than the usual "working closely with Apple" statement. Still it is interesting to desconstruct the reasons Apple gives for switching to Intel CPUs:
- Open up new possibilities [that's true, but vague].
- Fast [the IBM CPU was slow, afterall?]
- Affordable hardware [Macs are expensive, but presumably that's partly because they are made with higher-quality components than $399 PCs.]
