Word on the street is that the next vertical market Autodesk is releasing 2D process piping design software in 2006, followed by a 3D version a year or two later. Did I miss out on an announcement of Autodesk buying up a smaller software company that provides such software?

From the wording on Autodesk's Between the Lines blog, it could be the software is being developed in-house. In the blog posted last August, Shaan Hurley asks for samples of P&ID drawings in DWG format. From that, my guess is that the new software will be an add-on in a manner similar to Architectural Desktop, rather than a stand-alone product, as is Civil3D.
