SolidWorks has a new add-on for its Cosmic Blobs software -- billed as the "most powerful 3D graphics software ever invented for kids." Castles & Kingdoms (US$5) provides 50 medieval-themed 3D character models, decals, and textures. Also new character animations: wing-flapping and back flips.
Also available, a free update to Cosmic Blobs v1.2 with tool tips and introductory demo.
As I've mentioned before, I've never been able to get Cosmic Blobs working on any of my five computers, including a 3GHz model. (It would run painfully slowly.) To their credit, SolidWorks spent some time trying to reproduce the problem, but to no avail. I now have a new 64-bit AMD notebook computer, and'll have to try it on there.
Speculation: SolidWorks parent is Dassault, who recently purchased a company that make software for CAD animation but also movies and games. I wonder if there's any cross-pollination going on?
I have run Cosmic Blobs on both my PC and my Mac computers and never had a problem. I'd be curious to find out why you are having trouble getting the program to work on all five of your computers.
