The explosion of free CAD: Alibre Xpress, MicroStation for students, and now Medusa Design.
CAD Schroer is releasing MEDUSA Design Automation Suite free of charge for personal use, by registering via the cad-schroer.com Web site. Features include:
- advanced drafting
- SMART Edit offers parametrics on demand.
- 3D sheet-based modeling.
- runs on Windows 2000 SP3 and XP SP2.
- Support through e-mail and forums.
CAD Shroer bought the rights to Medusa from PTC in 2001, back when the the product seemed worthless. The German company has since upgraded the software to keep it viable. The company now has 25,000 installed licenses in 39 countries. In addition to Medusa, the company also produces Stheno/pro, a drafting plug-in for Pro/ENGINEER, and add-on modules.
This personal license although runs on linux...
