Canon has found that its CCD-based digital cameras and camcorders are affected by high temperature and humidity, causing some wiring to come loose. As a result, the cameras stop recording or record distorted images, reports Imaging Resource. The models with the problem are:
Digital Cameras
PowerShot A60, A70, A75
PowerShot A300, A310
Digital IXUS V3, IXUS II, IXUS IIs
Digital Video Cameras
MV600i, MV630i, MV650i
MV700i, MV730i, MV750i
MV5i, MV5i MC
MV6i MC
ZR60, ZR65 MC, ZR70 MC, ZR80, ZR85, ZR90
Elura 40 MC, Elura 50
Hmmm.... I have ZR25MC that exhibit the problem, but it isn't included in the recall list. Too bad.

Update
It turns out the problem is not loose wires, but the plastic-backed CCD sensor, made by Sony for several cameras from several manufacturers, including Canon. Under conditions of high heat and high humidity, the CCD wears out quickly; under less severe conditions, it can take a year or two for the problem to manifest itself. See the update at Imaging Resource for more info.
