When the playing of games and the editing of spreadsheets collided in office cubicles, some programmers added the Boss Key. When you noticed your boss getting near, you pressed a key that instantly froze the game, and displayed a realistic-looking spreadsheet on the screen.
Today, Sharp is getting media attention for devising the Ultimate Boss Screen. Look at the screen from the left, and you see one image; your boss looks at it from the right, and he sees a different image.
Seriously, though, the new LCD screen uses parallax technology to display different images, depending on the angle of view. What good could this possibly be?
Sharp sees two uses: one is security, so that others cannot see what you are working on (I know there was a Boss Screen angle!), such as airplane or train seatmates. Or, replacing two screen in automobile and airplane seatbacks with one screen; passenger to the left sees one tv program or game, passenger on the right surfs a different channel. Airline saves money and weight by installing half as many screens (not sure how this would work on seats with three seats in row).
