I am currently hard at work updating four of my AutoCAD and LT books for 2006. I'd like to acknowledge two guys who pour over every one of the approx. 3,000 pages I am churning out, between March and mid-June:
- Stephen Dunning, copy editor. Daytime job: English literature instructor at Douglas College.
- Bill Fane, technical editor. Daytime job: CAD instructor at British Columbia Institute of Technology.
You wouldn't know about the conversation that goes on -- on paper. Both Stephan and Bill comment liberally on my writing -- Stephen is usually confused (that's good, because it represents the mind of the neophyte) and Bill is usually knowledgable (although I've managed to stump him a few times).
Here are a few scans of comments by Stephen (red ink) and Bill (blue ink) from editing my "The Illustrated AutoCA 2006 Quick Reference" (Autodesk Press). The designation of red or blue is not a reflection of political leanings nor treatment of small animals. (Click the thumbnails for the full-size images).

* Writing about the TreeStat command:
Treestat makes sense to me. How useful it would be is another question.
Must be nice to work with an editor with a sense of humor.
