The guys over at slash.dot are chitchatting about some techno-geeks who created an array drive from multiple iPod Shuffles. (Complains one contributor: I can't get a Shuffle for my wife at Valentines, and these guys create an array drive?)
(An array drive stores data on more than one drive at a time. There are several ways to do this, such as mirroring -- same data on both drives -- and stripping -- data split between two drives.)
One contributor thought of storing sensitive data on stripped Shuffles with PGP. The data could only be read if (1) both Shuffles are together; and (2) you have the password for the PGP encryption.
Of course, you wouldn't need Shuffles to do this: any other USB key device might work, after being tweaked appropriately.
