The cleverest written e-newsletter in the technical world is News and Opinionated Views from Jon Peddie Research, written under the name of Shawnee "Tell me about it, I'll make it right" Blackwood.
Excerpts from this week's edition:
* Standards proliferate geometrically — world organizations become alarmed that the proliferation of standards will outnumber humans by the year 2020.
* We have finally figured out what we’re going to call the Post-PC era. We were dangerously close to calling it the phone age but then, blessedly, inspiration hit — it’s the Radio Age. (Well yes, we can see where you might have thought that the radio age already happened — somewhere after the ice age and before Ed Sullivan.)
* Once everyone is connected; once everyone who can have a cell phone does have a cell phone, the world changes. For one thing we’ll all be seeing the same commercials.
Of course, the newsletter's just a teaser to get you to buy their $5K reports, but I don't feel bad enjoying KM's musings for free. jonpeddie.com.
