Bentley acquired the 25-year-old Haestad Methods, well known for its software used to design, analyse, and manage water distribution, municipal sewers, stormwater collection, roadway and site drainage, and flood control. The company has annual revenues of US$16 million.
Some of the functions in Haestad's software will find their way into MicroStation, Bentley's CAD software. Founder John Haestad is appointed senior vp of Bentley Software.
As it has with other acquisitions, Bentley says it will continue to softwrae Haestad softwrae that runs on competitor's CAD programs, such as AutoCAD and ESRI. Bentley indicates that it continues to look for other AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) acquisitions.
