Intel is also delaying its 64-bit-capable consumer-oriented 4GHz Pentium 4 until next year. Coincidence? wonders The Register.
Come on, give me a break. The people working on the product didn't just take a six month vacation. They're product slipped like any other product slip. They found out that their schedule was too optomistic, they found problems that they hadn't anticipated, someone added requirements late, the usual. This isn't some monolith called Microsoft deciding that it didn't need to get done.
Oh, and some manager probably shifted resources to solve security issues that everyone says is top priority.
Their business and pricing people may be working like they have a monopoly, but give the software developers a break.
