IMSI, better known for its TurboCAD product, changed the name of one division and sold off another.
Aladdin Systems has been renamed Allume Systems, as has its Web site: www.allume.com. Reason for the change? Another similarly named company, Aladdin Knowledge Systems, had raised a stink. Aladdin Systems is best known for Stuffit compression software for Macintosh computers.
And IMSI is selling off all but 10% of its Keynomics subsiduary, which does ergonomic and keyboard training. [I wonder if that includes teaching executives to use their thumbs on Treo and Blackberry keyboards?] IMSI president Gordon Landies doesn't say to whom Keynomics is being sold, so maybe this is just puttin' up the For Sale sign.
The company reiterates that it is focussed on precision design [ie. CAD] and utilities. imsisoft.com
