NavisWorks adds a .DGN reader to version 3.4 of their namesake file viewer software. And, they announce their membership in the Open Design Alliance, who works with Bentley Systems to make .DGN (MicroStation V8.x) reading, viewing, and writing possible.
(NavisWorks3 allows you to view, walkthrough, and coordinate 2D and 3D CAD models -- without needing the originating CAD software. It also does photorealistic visualization, interference checking, and project simulation.)
That means NavisWorks reads and displays drawings created in MicroStation V8, and translates (exports) other CAD drawings to MicroStation format.
Also supported in this update are ArchiCAD 8.1, Revit 6, elcoCAD v4, and 3DS Max 5 & 6. The new TimeLiner plug-in displays construction schedules from Project, Primavera P3, Asta Powerproject, and software that exports .MPX files -- 4D construction simulation, in effect.
